80^th Annual Trek to the Nation's Christmas Tree
Sunday, December 11^th at 2:30pm in Grant Grove

The General Grant Tree, in Kings Canyon National Park, was designated “The Nation’s Christmas Tree” in 1926 and special Yuletide celebrations have been held under its snow-laden branches every year since. 

To help you celebrate with us as we prepare for this festive holiday season, we are offering a special Yuletide rate of $49* per night for our John Muir Lodge standard hotel rooms.  These rates are available from November 27, 2005 through December 15, 2005 and Sunday through Thursday from January 8, 2006 through February 16, 2006, excluding Sunday, January 15, 2006.

This year the “Trek to the Tree” event will be held on Sunday, December 11^th at 2:30pm in Grant Grove.  The festivities take place under the General Grant Tree, which is within walking distance of the John Muir Lodge and Grant Grove Village. 

The nearby town of Sanger, in cooperation with the National Park Service, sponsors the event, which includes a choir singing carols under the General Grant.

So come visit “The Nation’s Christmas Tree” and get into the holiday spirit a little early at Kings Canyon National Park.  Before and after the festivities you can warm up in front of the stone fireplace in the John Muir Lodge lobby, enjoy a festive meal in the restaurant, or do some holiday shopping in our gift shop.

*Yuletide Value Rates are available per room, per night from November 27, 2005 through December 15, 2005 and Sunday through Thursday from January 8, 2006 through February 16, 2006, excluding Sunday, January 15, 2006.  Rates do not include taxes.  Rates are based on double occupancy.  Children aged 12 and under stay free in room with adult(s).  Additional person charge is $12 per night.  Additional bed charge is $12 per night.
